This page answers frequently asked questions about non-proctored College Saver final exams on Study.com. Here, you’ll find information about:

  • Identity verification and how Study.com ensures academic integrity.

  • Using reference materials during your final exams.

  • Technical troubleshooting, including connectivity issues and authentication steps.

These FAQs are designed to help you feel confident and prepared before taking your exam.

Is my identity verified for academic integrity and credit transfer?

Yes. Study.com requires identity verification before each College Saver final exam to ensure that the correct student is taking the exam. We work with TypingDNA, Veriff, and PSI for authentication. The verification method used does not affect credit transferability.

What is TypingDNA, and how does it work?

TypingDNA uses keystroke biometrics to confirm your identity. Before your first exam, you’ll provide at least three short typing samples while using Study.com. At exam time, you’ll type a short verification sample. If it matches your enrollment samples, you’ll begin the exam immediately. If it doesn’t match, you’ll be asked to verify your identity with Veriff.

What is Veriff?

Veriff verifies identity by matching a photo of a valid, government-issued ID with a live selfie. If TypingDNA authentication fails or isn’t possible, you’ll be prompted to use Veriff instead. Note: Veriff sessions are not video-recorded.

Do I need an ID card?

Yes. Keep a valid, government-issued ID nearby in case Veriff is required. You can review Veriff’s list of supported documents here. If you don’t have an accepted ID, contact support@study.com before your exam.

Do I need a camera on my computer?

Not necessarily. If your computer doesn’t have a camera, you can use a smartphone or tablet during Veriff verification. Always have a camera-enabled device available in case it’s needed.

Can I take exams on a mobile device or tablet?

No. College Saver final exams must be taken on a desktop or laptop computer.

Can I step away during my exam?

Yes, but the timer will continue to run. If you need extended breaks for medical reasons, contact support@study.com at least one week before your exam. You’ll need to provide documentation for accommodation approval.

Are College Saver exams open-book?

Yes. Exams are open-book. You may use your course notes and Study.com course materials during the exam. Review our Academic Integrity Policyor full guidelines.

When will I get my results?

Most students receive results immediately after finishing their exam. In some cases, results may take longer if:

  • Your exam session requires extra review.

  • There were abnormalities in your exam experience.

  • Your course also includes projects that need grading.

If you don’t receive results within 3 business days, contact support@study.com.

What if I don’t use a keyboard?

If you don’t use a keyboard, you can skip TypingDNA and verify your identity with Veriff. For the smoothest experience, contact support@study.com at least one week before your exam so we can set this up in advance.

What if I broke my arm or can’t type for any reason?

If you’re temporarily unable to type, you can bypass TypingDNA and use Veriff instead. Contact support@study.com before your exam to enable this accommodation. When you’re ready to return to typing, we’ll reactivate TypingDNA for you.

How is my identity data used?

Identity data is collected to protect academic integrity and ensure credits can transfer. Your typing patterns are stored in encrypted form on Study.com and TypingDNA systems. Any ID photos or biometric data are securely stored by Veriff. Study.com does not store images of your ID or face on its servers.

What happens if I get disconnected during an exam?

You can rejoin your exam by refreshing your browser or clicking “Resume Exam” on your course page. The timer will continue to run while disconnected. For major connectivity issues, contact support@study.com.

What if authentication services aren’t working?

If you cannot verify your identity:

  1. Log out of Study.com.

  2. Clear your browser cookies.

  3. Log back in and try again.

If the issue continues, reach out to support@study.com.
